Ohama Beach is a scenic beach located right next to Ikema Bridge, known for its wide stretch of white sand. You can reach the beach by descending the stairs beside a local souvenir shop. The beach boasts exceptionally clear waters and shallow areas, making it less suitable for snorkeling, but perfect for a relaxing stroll or beachcombing.
From the beach, you can admire stunning views of nearby Ogami Island to the left, Setozaki straight ahead, and the impressive Ikema Bridge connecting Miyako Island and Ikema Island. The view from the Ikema Bridge parking area is especially breathtaking, showcasing a magnificent gradation of blues. Navy blue, turquoise, emerald green, sky blue, and Tiffany blue—Miyako’s ocean reveals a dazzling spectrum of colors.
During low tide on days with large tidal swings, a sandy path emerges across the shallow sea, allowing visitors to walk to areas usually inaccessible. This unique sand path changes with the tides, offering a different landscape each time you visit.
