Takano Coast is a secluded beach located on the eastern shore of Miyako Island, offering a peaceful setting rich in natural beauty. Just a short drive east from Miyako Airport brings you to Takano Fishing Port, where this modest beach begins. A natural, crescent-shaped shoreline stretches for about 1.5 kilometers, allowing visitors to enjoy expansive, open sea views with a true sense of freedom.

While the beach has shallow waters and is not ideal for snorkeling due to its lack of coral and fish, the breakwater near the port is a popular spot for fishing and is well-loved by locals. This area is also known for frequent sea turtle sightings, and if you’re lucky, you might see one swimming nearby. A nearby park features ship-themed playground equipment, making it a comfortable spot for families with children. There are also well-maintained showers and restrooms, providing convenience for longer stays.

At the far end of the beach, you can see Yonahamasaki in the distance—an almost untouched area that radiates a mysterious atmosphere. Around the Takano Fishing Port, airplanes occasionally fly overhead at low altitudes, creating a dynamic and exciting visual experience unique to this location.
Takano Coast is a quiet place with few tourists, where local life and nature coexist in harmony. Along the shoreline, you may even see natural spring water bubbling up—an expression of the island’s abundant natural resources. With easy access from the city and minimal elevation changes, it’s also a great destination for those less confident in driving.
