Maja Beach is a secluded spot located on the eastern coast of Miyako Island, spreading east and west of Maja Fishing Port. It’s a hidden gem rarely visited by tourists, making it perfect for those looking to enjoy peaceful natural surroundings.

The beach next to Maja Fishing Port features white sand and crystal-clear blue waters. The west side of the beach is especially ideal for snorkeling. The coral reef lies about 100 meters from the shore, and within the reef, the water is shallow and home to a variety of corals and tropical fish. Beyond the reef, the sea depth increases rapidly, and underwater caves can be explored. However, crossing the reef requires physical strength, and during spring tides, the current can become strong, so caution is advised.

The east side of the beach features a wide sandy area that’s visually beautiful but less suitable for snorkeling. It’s best for wading and swimming near the shore, making it a safe and enjoyable spot for families. Both beaches have shallow water, and visiting during high tide offers even more stunning scenery.

There are no shower facilities at Maja Beach, and only a restroom located by the fishing port. Drifted debris may be present on the shore, so it’s recommended to prepare in advance. There are no rental shops nearby, so bring your own snorkeling gear if needed. The sand contains coral fragments, so wearing aqua shoes is advised for safety.
Maja Beach is a quiet, private-feeling destination—ideal for those wanting to relax and unwind in the heart of nature.
