Nishihenna-zaki (Cape Nishihenna)

“A breathtaking cape located at the northernmost point of Miyako Island, offering a popular 360-degree panoramic view”

Nishihenna-zaki is situated at the northernmost tip of Miyako Island and captivates visitors with its stunning natural scenery. As the westernmost point of the main island of Miyako as well, this cape offers peaceful, expansive views. On clear days, you can enjoy a full view of the vivid blue sea known as “Miyako Blue.” From here, you can see Irabu Island stretching to the southwest and the impressive Ikema Bridge extending to the north—scenery that truly embodies the beauty of Miyakojima.

One of the distinctive features of Nishihenna-zaki is its wind power generation facility, installed as part of the “Enetopía” energy vision. Three massive wind turbines stand at the tip of the cape, leaving a lasting impression with their overwhelming scale and presence. These turbines harmonize with the natural environment of Miyakojima and symbolize the island’s commitment to sustainable energy and its future.

From the cape, you can also view the magnificent Ikema Bridge, which stretches over a kilometer long. The contrast of the bridge, the turbines, and the Miyako Blue sea creates a striking landscape that has made Nishihenna-zaki one of the island’s signature sightseeing spots.

In contrast to Higashi-Hennazaki (Cape Higashi-Henna) on the eastern side, this location offers a quieter and more tranquil atmosphere. While visiting, you can enjoy the refreshing sea breeze as you take in the beautiful views of the ocean and sky, along with Irabu Island and the Ikema Bridge in the distance. Nishihenna-zaki is a hidden gem where the beauty of nature and human technology coexist, offering a unique perspective of Miyakojima’s charm.
