Kuura Waterside Park

“A hidden scenic gem where you can fully embrace the beauty of nature in complete tranquility.”

Kuura Waterside Park is a lesser-known spot in Miyakojima where visitors can immerse themselves in the island’s natural beauty. To reach the park, start from the entrance marked by a stone monument leading toward Sunayama Beach. Turn right at the monument, pass by “Mahoroba-no-Sato,” and after a short drive, you’ll see a single, standalone lodging. Turn left at that point, continue down the road, and make another left at the end to arrive near the park. The area includes parking and restroom facilities, and beyond that, a wide tidal flat awaits.

This park features a rare jungle-like landscape, which is uncommon in Miyakojima due to the absence of rivers. During low tide, you can experience a unique walk from the pond area all the way to the beach. To reach the beach, descend into the tidal flat and follow the narrow path stretching to the right. However, due to recent typhoons, parts of the path have been eroded by seawater and may have collapsed, so caution is advised.

The beach itself is enveloped in a peaceful, private-like atmosphere, and you’ll rarely encounter other visitors. After swimming, you can use the available showers and toilets, making for a comfortable experience. Kuura Waterside Park is truly a breathtaking location where you can enjoy both the serenity and unspoiled nature of Miyakojima.
