Geologically, this cave is a collapsed doline, similar to Toriike Pond on Shimoji Island. It is believed to have formed about 100,000 years ago when the cave’s ceiling collapsed. During the day, natural sunlight streams in from above, creating a mystical atmosphere within. It’s best to contact the owner in advance, as the cave may not be open without a prior reservation.
Visitors can explore a 15-meter section of the cave. From the chilly entrance, the temperature gradually warms up, and the humidity rises—often causing camera lenses to fog. Since the cave is also a place of spiritual significance, photography is not allowed beyond the entrance.
