Miyakojima has a calm and laid-back atmosphere, but with the recent increase in tourism, rental car usage has also risen. In the city center, many roads are narrow or one-way, while in rural areas, traffic signals may be sparse and some stop signs can be hard to notice. Be sure to check your destination in advance and always drive safely.

Additionally, stopping for photos is strictly prohibited on bridges such as Irabu Bridge, Kurima Bridge, and Ikema Bridge. For your safety and that of others, please never stop on these bridges. At scenic spots, there have been cases of vehicles stopping or parking in dangerous locations for photo opportunities. Please be considerate and help prevent accidents by parking only in safe and designated areas.

If an accident occurs, contact the police and your rental car company immediately and follow their instructions. Also, please take care not to get the inside of the vehicle wet or sandy. Follow proper etiquette and enjoy a safe and peaceful drive around Miyakojima.
